Running Right Off the Track

Right-leaning pundits are doing a disservice to the debate about Obama’s stimulus package when they mischaracterize things. I think Rush Limbaugh is guilty of that in this case, though I don’t know that he’s taken the time to follow through and do his own research (though he should if he wants to maintain credibility).

Situational Myopia

The public was thrilled. But how many people saw through the circus and noticed that the GM CEO drove himself to the Capitol in a Chevy Volt? This was not the vehicle that he drove from Detroit to Washington. No, this vehicle was flown in by jet … and I’m sure it didn’t make the trip in row 10 of a Northwest Airlines Boeing 737 on a coach fare.

Wealth Defined

Very simply put, wealth is stuff other people want. Wealth is not a closed loop nor a zero sum game. Wealth can be created, usually through labor.

What a Childish President

When the Republican Party controlled both houses of Congress as well as the White House, there was plenty of caterwauling from the Democrats but no bellicose admonitions telling them they needed prostrate themselves to the ruling party.

Government Health Care Would Be a Disaster

Even though Lloyds of London has insured Jennifer Lopez’s derriere, they don’t expect to hear from her after every meal she eats or after every workout she misses. Bush Had the Right Approach

In a time of clear and obvious crisis, after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the attempted attack on another Washington target, President Bush presented a message of hope and optimism to the American public.  His message was unifying and reassuring to the population.  It was a great message that […]

Idealogues Don’t Agree

Posted By on January 30, 2009

An idealogue is someone who carries strong convictions of their ideas or beliefs. Two idealogues holding differing ideas, beliefs, opinions, or points of view are, by definition, never going to agree. For a third party to expect any other result is lunacy. The American Founding Fathers were idealogues who envisioned a new society based on […]

Pennies from Heaven

With great fanfare, President Obama had tonight what was described by the Associated Press as a political ‘win’ in the form of House passage of an $819 billion economic ‘stimulus’ package.  Wow!  That’s some package!  Might even be bigger than Al Gore’s legendary package.  Oooh, I’m feeling very stimulated just now.  Please excuse me for […]
