Even though Lloyds of London has insured Jennifer Lopez’s derriere, they don’t expect to hear from her after every meal she eats or after every workout she misses. They only expect to write a large check if an unfortunate incident involving a large truck and the back seat of her car leave fitting into her size 4 jeans a distant memory.

One of the popular solutions often put forth on how to ‘fix’ health care in the US is this one: if you’re required to have car insurance, why not health insurance?
