The Argument for a Smaller Government

Posted By on January 7, 2009

Accept as given:

  1. all government officials are human
  2. virtually all humans are corruptible at some price

The more things that a government does, the more areas of your life over which they have control, whether for good or bad, then the more places where corruption and waste will happen.  The answer to corruption is smaller government.  The fewer things that government does, the less ways there are for big business and the wealthy to ‘buy’ the system.

Most people instinctively don’t trust the government, and with good reason.  Countless examples abound of government waste, inefficiency, mismanagement, etc.  Virtually no government organization has escaped it.  Still, liberals want the government to own and operate more and more sectors of the economy.  They want the government to have more control over our lives … but they won’t address the inherent contradiction that they don’t trust government.

It seems clear to me (‘stone pig’ alert) that liberals truly desire to live in a benevolent dictatorship i.e. Benito Mussolini, Fidel Castro, or Hugo Chavez.  This is why they are so infatuated with Barack Obama.  Since he is at once all things to all people, everyone thinks they’re going to get what they want from him.

Yes, I’m saying that liberals ARE anti-American in that America stands for liberty and free markets (at least that’s how we were founded) and liberals are very much against that.  Liberals want a nanny-state where their values of what’s right and decent are forced upon everyone.  They don’t know it, but they really desire slavery, which, by definition, is the forced labor of one person for the benefit of someone else.
