Are you insulted when someone thinks so little of your intelligence that they will tell you bald faced lies because they know you will either take them at face value and believe them, or at the very least will not hold them to a higher standard? Are the politicians right? Are we, as a society, that stupid?

So why do I think Roland Burris is an idiot? Simple. His actions either prove he’s an idiot, or they prove that he thinks all his supporters, and the folks in Illinois, are idiots and will believe his protestations of innocence even in the face of the body of evidence and facts out there that say otherwise.

When the Republican Party controlled both houses of Congress as well as the White House, there was plenty of caterwauling from the Democrats but no bellicose admonitions telling them they needed prostrate themselves to the ruling party.

Even though Lloyds of London has insured Jennifer Lopez’s derriere, they don’t expect to hear from her after every meal she eats or after every workout she misses. They only expect to write a large check if an unfortunate incident involving a large truck and the back seat of her car leave fitting into her size 4 jeans a distant memory.

They are essentially saying that electric cars don’t make good financial sense, and won’t do so in our lifetimes, but they still think that governments should spend billions upon billions to push them through anyway.

We’ve managed to engineer a very self-absorbed, intellectually lazy society that glorifies idiotic sound-byte mentalities and marginalizes intellectuals. That recipe is great for doing mass hypnosis and allowing a few self-appointed ‘leaders’ to march the herd off to slaughter.
Just a boy from small-town western New York (Batavia) with strong convictions and a desire to express my opinions. I'm married and have a daughter with whom I am taking great pains to brainwash into my way of thinking (so far with great success).
Though I am a software engineer by day, I read a great deal about current events, history, and economics and philosophy. I'm certain that many of my former teachers will be pleasantly surprised to hear this. I've grown very interested in trying to help educate others about the liberty guaranteed to us in the United States Constitution and the economic theories on which this Country was founded.
