Fascism is Alive and Well

I’m reading Liberal Fascism right now by Jonah Goldberg. Here’s a quote from it:
What mattered was mobilizing the masses to understand their power over the capitalist ruling classes. As Mussolini said in an interview in 1932, “It is faith that moves mountains, not reason. Reason is a tool, but it can never be the motive force of the crowd.
This provides great insight into why it is difficult to persuade people on matters of religion or politics using logic and reason. Liberalism is a religion to most of its ‘believers’ and they accept their arguments and positions on faith, not sense, no matter how common it may be.
Here’s another quote:
Crisis is routinely identified as a core mechanism of fascism because it short-circuits debate and democratic deliberation.
This is downright scary, especially in conjunction with comments from Obama’s Chief of Staff and various media analysis I have read. Here’s Rahm Emmanuel on using crisis for for policy advancement:
“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. Things that we had postponed for too long, that were long term, are now immediate and must be dealt with. This crisis provides the opportunity for us to do things that you could not do before.”1
This is why we keep having all the so-called crises arise. Gin up a crisis and it’s so much easier to get people to give up their liberties. This is why I’m not a believer in the current financial ‘crisis’ because I believe it has been a manufactured entity that was originally meant simply to get Barack Obama into the White House. Now, it’s going to pay dividends and help advance more of the Liberals’ agenda.
MSNBC published a story in which they clearly acknowledge the opportunity presented to Obama and the liberal Democrat agenda courtesy of the current perception of crisis (which MSNBC was only too happy to help foment).
“Others have urged Obama to move swiftly on health care, fearing his window to muscle through big policy changes will be brief.”2
For those Americans who are opposed to the continued creeping liberalism which reduces the personal freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution, this is a time to be especially vigilant and vocal. It’s important for people to keep a firm understanding of their core beliefs and not be afraid to stand up for themselves, their families, and their communities.
