Perhaps my biggest pet peave in life is the blind application of rules. Rules have replaced thinking. It seems that more and more people subscribe to the belief that if we just make more rules, or laws, and we espouse zero tolerance policies, that somehow our lives will be enhanced.

What a vast majority of the people who support Obama’s plan don’t realize, because they aren’t thinking for themselves, or the suffer from situational myopia, is that any government solution WILL result in loss of health care freedom. It will, by it’s nature, result in exactly they problems they propose to fix. It cannot end any other way.

Many people have completely abdicated their right to think. Instead, they ask for more and more rules to govern their lives, and the lives of others who they do not trust. The lack of trust (and trustworthy folks) in our society results in the application of more laws thus further degrading the very freedom we proclaim to be protecting.

With some degree of success, I have made a lifetime of trying to make good decisions and working hard to be able to support my family without the need to burden others. I have taken responsibility for my actions and planned for future contingencies. Is it right that I should be enslaved so as to benefit others who have been poor decision makers, refused to work hard, or failed to plan ahead? I resent that a great many of the beneficiaries of my labors fit that very description.

Even though Lloyds of London has insured Jennifer Lopez’s derriere, they don’t expect to hear from her after every meal she eats or after every workout she misses. They only expect to write a large check if an unfortunate incident involving a large truck and the back seat of her car leave fitting into her size 4 jeans a distant memory.

When I was the ruler of Rome, oh so many centuries ago, life was grand. I got to do whatever I wished and everybody around me heeded my every command without question.
Just a boy from small-town western New York (Batavia) with strong convictions and a desire to express my opinions. I'm married and have a daughter with whom I am taking great pains to brainwash into my way of thinking (so far with great success).
Though I am a software engineer by day, I read a great deal about current events, history, and economics and philosophy. I'm certain that many of my former teachers will be pleasantly surprised to hear this. I've grown very interested in trying to help educate others about the liberty guaranteed to us in the United States Constitution and the economic theories on which this Country was founded.
